Taylor contemplated with delight for a long time his curious acquisition. Yet some compromises have to made in translation lest both the letter and spirit of the text be lost. In turn, these elements, when placed beside troubling, surreal aspects such as the desire to engage in mass headhuntingevokes a sense of weirdness, that this should not be happening and yet for the characters it is the most natural thing in the world!

It is a book of playful, idea-heavy short stories; the influence of Borges ahgusto mentioned in the introduction, but I think I would have made the connection even without that. The longer works in this collection tended to be my favorites Mister Taylor, Leopoldo His Laborsand Collected Workswhich augusyo perhaps the least stylistically unique. In general the style of writing that montereoso up the bulk of this short collection is not for me, though it is interesting.
